Happy Mother's Day, mummy

So today is the day where everyone celebrates their mothers.

Everyone make a point to come home, book a restaurant in advance, cheering each other, have a nice meal and the next day, everyone's busy with their own thing

Unlike my family and I. As everyone stays in different state, we will normally give my mother a call and wish her 'Happy Mother's Day, mummy', chat a little, then say bye. Unconventional way on how we celebrate mother's day. #ikr. Unless if Mother's Day falls on Saturday. Yeap, Saturday. We'll bring her to dinner, chat about politics, this, that and drove home.

My mum often being portrayed as someone who chats a lot and garang. She loves to talk, not to forget, the big N.A.G. Whose mum doesn't right? But often her nagging comes from repetitive mistakes her children make or perhaps we didn't put the things back according to her way. Either one. But because of her nagging, the house were kept clean and neat. Even to the extend our clothes in the closet. They're arranged accordingly.

My mum quit her job right after she got married to my dad. She sacrificed her time to take care of us. making sure that meals are cooked, house are kept clean, laundries are washed. All of the above and many more that I may not know because I was small. I could not relate myself to her on how tiring it is being a full time housewife until I got married. I work in an office on weekdays and wear my housewife hat during the weekend. So basically I work 7 days a week. Even then, I still have spare time in between lunches. But being a mother, you have to be on alert 24/7. When your child doesn't go to bed, you have to stay awake, when you child doesn't want to eat you have to find a way to make her eat. Babies change their diapers hundred of times a day. Imagine that but times with 7.

I do not how my mother can make it through her 32 years of raising me and Dianah but definitely a challenging ones. My mum plays a very huge role when it comes to bringing the family together. No matter what comes her way, she always have this strength and determination to make it through.

My mum has her own unique way of expressing her love for the family. Weird but true.For example, she can be nagging and cooking our favorite meal, at the SAME TIME.

Mummy, Happy Mother's Day. May Allah showers you with all the good things in life and bless you with good health, good home and a great future ahead.

The budget travel: Tokyo 10th-14th March 2016 Part 3

We continue our adventure to the heart of Tokyo on the 3rd day. Slightly further from our 1st and 2nd day in Tokyo.

Our first destination was Akihabara, city of electric. You'll have better view during at night when all shops in that area lit up with colorful lights. Amazing view.

Electronic and electric gadgets are quite reasonable compare to Malaysia however please inquire on duty free items and what is the minimum purchase if you want to be on tax exempted.

Akihabara is a place filled with anime enthusiasm, electric and electronics fancies. Feast your eyes on the largest electric city in the world.

We even visited the famous Kaikan Gochapon shop along the street of Akihabra. It's a bit tricky to find your way there but it's around 15 minutes walk. The range for a Gochapon machine is between 100 yen to around 600 yen. View the map here.

Since there were no halal snacks around Akihabara, we decided to Google up and find halal takoyaki. Who goes to Japan without trying their famous takoyaki kan. It's not the same as the ones we ate in Malaysia. Takoyaki there is fresher and the taste is soooo good. We found one while on the way to Ueno park, Minatoya takoyaki. Price is reasonable, 350 yen for 8 pieces of takoyaki balls.

Our final destination was the Ueno park. It's just around 10 minutes walk from the Takoyaki stall. The right time for sakura blooming is normally end of March but we were there earlier, therefore, we managed to see a few trees blooming. That's better than nothing.

Ueno Park is a large public park next to Ueno Station in central Tokyo. The park grounds were originally part of Kaneiji Temple, which used to be one of the city's largest and wealthiest temples and a family temple of the ruling Tokugawa clan during the Edo Period.

Today Ueno Park is famous for the many museums found on its grounds, especially the Tokyo National Museum, the National Museum for Western Art, the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and the National Science Museum. It is also home to Ueno Zoo, Japan's first zoological garden.

Additionally, Ueno Park is one of Tokyo's most popular and lively cherry blossom spots with more than 1000 cherry trees lining its central pathway. The cherry blossoms are usually in bloom during late March and early April and attract large numbers of hanami (cherry blossom viewing) parties.

It was raining throughout our stay in Tokyo. It's either in the morning or evening but the rain lasted the whole day. Drizzling not heavy. So you can expect the weather to be freezing cold.

The first day upon our arrival was getting familiarize with the subway stations. Mind you that we have taken a single bus ride since in Osaka. Their subway, metro and train is enough to bring you from Point A to Point B. Efficient and on time.

The first place we went on our 2nd day was the famous Odaiba. Guess why? Cause there's this gigantic statue of Gundam that Juan wanted to have mandatory selfie with. The statue is located at the back entrance of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza

The headquarters of Fuji Television, one of Japan's private, nationwide TV stations. You can see some exhibits on popular programs, buy Fuji TV goods at a shop and access the futuristic looking building's observatory deck housed in the sphere shaped part of the building.

We didn't manage to step foot at the headquarters as we had other plans at that time. Take the time to visit this place.

Okay, this is not within our itinerary. We stumbled the Toyota interactive showroom (Megaweb) by accident as we were on a escalator up to Aquacity Odaiba. It's just a 5 minutes walk from DiverCity Tokyo Plaza.

MEGA WEB is the Toyota car theme park where you can 'See', 'Ride' and 'Feel' interactive center. There are 3 facilities based on each theme.

This is also a center where you can go for the test drive and witness TOYOTA's newest models they have never been displayed in other location in 'TOYOTA CITY SHOWCASE'. You can also learn about the technologies of hybrid, safety and environment of TOYOTA. You can also check the actual car specifications.

For more info, visit the Mega Web website. This is THE place that you wouldn't want to miss. A place worth going when you're in Odaiba.

Our next destination was the Sensoji temple. One of the many most famous temple in Tokyo. This temple is situated in Asakusa. Souvenirs prices are quite reasonable over here compared to Kyoto. We bought a few for ourselves, friends and family.

A shopping street of over 200 meters, called Nakamise, leads from the outer gate to the temple's second gate, the Hozomon. Alongside typical Japanese souvenirs such as yukata and folding fans, various traditional local snacks from the Asakusa area are sold along the Nakamise. The shopping street has a history of several centuries.

We managed to find halal Japanese joint around Asakusa, Ipin halal Restaurant. Food wasn't as good as the one we had in Kyoto but because we were hungry and tired, we had no choice. The next halal restaurant situated far away from the place we were at.

Out final destination of the day was Tokyo Sky Tree and Shibuya crossing. Because I was afraid of height, we didn't went up the tower plus tickets were soooo expensive. For more details, visit their official webpage here.

Their operating hours is 8.00am - 10.00pm daily. There are also a few fancy restaurants and souvenir shops around Tokyo Sky Tree. If you visit during spring season, there are many Spring events being held at the tower for both adult and kids.

The best place to take the full view of Shibuya Crossing is the Starbucks across Shibuya station

If you notice, we spent less on train tickets compare to those we had back in Kyoto and Osaka because we used the 3 days Tokyo subway pass. it's unlimited so you can use it as many times as you want for 3 days.
