Top 5 eczema bath wash

2:04:00 PM

So it has been over a year when Isa was 1st confirmed eczema. It all started with just a tiny rash which we thought due to the extreme heat but we had it checked at a local child specialist.

Taking care of a child with skin problem can be time consuming as well as expensive. There are so many products claiming that they're eczema friendly but it all depends on the severity and how well the baby adapt to each product. There are many ways to treat eczema that is depending on the skin condition. The common treatment is by prescribing Corticosteroids or steroid cream. I have this but I only use on Isa when his eczema bleeds or if it gets worse. But to prevent his eczema from flaring, I make sure that we use the right product on him and make sure that his body is moisturized enough to prevent dry skin. When it gets dry, that is when the itch starts. When the itch starts, it could lead to bleeding.

So in this blog, I'll be sharing Top 5, my favorite bath wash meant for baby or toddler with eczema:

1. Ceradan

This is the 1st bath was that was prescribed by Isa's paed. It cost around RM50 for 280ml. Each bottle can last you for many, many months because you only need to pump once for each bath session. It is suitable to be used on body and face. Does not contain sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS). This is by far my favorite. It has thick texture but easily glide on baby's body. When you wash it off, it leaves this oily, moisture kind of feeling on your baby's skin. Isa used this for a couple of month before his eczema started to reduce. This is usually not available at any pharmacy, Watson or Gurdian. You can get it through Lazada or purchase it directly from Loh Child Specialist Centre.

2. Cetaphil Restoraderm

We stopped using Ceradan after Isa's skin condition became much better and flare lesser than before. This is slightly expensive but you only need to use half pump to slather the whole body. This is only to be used on body, not suitable on face. The texture is similar to Ceradan and it doesn't smell good. I believe most eczema product does not contain perfume therefore they do not have appealing smell. It cost around RM68 (if on promo. NP: RM80++) and can be easily purchase at Watson or Gurdians. Travel kit is also available at certain branches.

3.  Dove Baby Sensitive

This is my latest discovery. I was browsing through baby stuff on Lazada when I bumped into this. So I Googled it to see if it is meant for eczema prone skin and I read numerous reviews from mummies and daddies who has child diagnosed with eczema giving good feedback. So I gave it a try and tested a bottle with its lotion. Price is really affordable and comes in 2 size which is the 200ml (RM20++) and 400ml (RM30++). However you can only get these babies through Lazada. They're not available at any major supermarket, Watson or Gurdian. It has similar texture with Cetaphil but slightly runny. But you need to pump only once to slather. Best thing is, they come with head to toe so you don't have to purchase separate shampoo or body wash for your baby.

4. Johnson baby sensitive touch

Well, this is a range where not many parents knew about. They're available in certain Watson and Gurdian branch only. Mainly the bigger ones. But I use this only when Isa is not flaring up because it smells good so practically it still contain ingredient that could irritate the skin. But I managed to use this for a while before changing back to Cetaphil. It has very watery texture so you have pump twice to get enough. This cost around RM26 for 500ml and 200ml (RM16++) which I think very economical for mummies who want a good body wash for their babies or toddler. I couldn't recommend this if the eczema is flaring up cause it irritates Isa's skin further.

5. Nivea baby

This is a very new range launched by Nivea cater to baby's sensitive skin. It is head to toe wash. They also has baby oil in this range but the oil is not compatible with Isa's skin so I had to use it in the end. Baby oil will irritate eczema skin further. So just stick to lotions okay mummies :-).  Nivea baby is a direct competitor with Johnson baby sensitive range. The texture are alike except Johnson sensitive has a milky color while Nivea is the clear type. The price is similar and comes in 500ml.
