It was another weekend for a wedding in KL. We drove down on Friday and arrived past midnite. The drive was smooth but there were a lot of buses and lorries. Even cars were more than usual. I presume it was because the start of the school holiday.
The wedding venue that we attended was held in Restoran Zam-Zam. The hall was newly renovated and could accommodate up to 1000 guest at a time! The hall is also equipped with LCD TV that can be connected to a camcorder so that those who were seated far from the main stage can watch the event live on the LCD. Surau is also provided as well as makeup area for the bride and groom to get ready.
We arrived earlier at the venue to witness the akad nikah of the bride and groom. The nikah reminded me a lot of during my nikah session. But this time I didn't cry during the ceremony because I was so busy on the phone. It was less than 15 minutes before they were pronounce as husband as wife.
The highlight of this wedding was definitely the food. I believe this is the best nasi kenduri I have had for a very long time. The kuih that was served after the nikah, before the wedding lunch, was so delicious that my mother-in-law took a few popiah and shared them with me. I kid you not. Everything was so good that I'm sure that I have gained a few pound. Ahhh, who cares.
The bride's wedding dress was also stunning, made from light colored songket. I asked Juan if we could get married all over again.. Huh...
