Family trip: Melaka Part 2

9:20:00 AM

This is the continuation of our family trip to Melaka during Dianah's Manipal orientation day that I've blogged here.

We have always wanted to try the famous Big Nyonya Restaurant in Melaka. We don't get to travel like this that often. The first time we went, it was closed. But we were lucky this time. The food was not bad, the fact that we don't really know exactly how a local Melaka dish should taste. They're a bit different compare to the Northern type of cooking.

Big Nyonya Restaurant is the brainchild of Masterchef Datuk Kenny Chan, a 7th generation true-blue Melaka Baba.

Situated amidst a bustling business district and major tourist attractions, it is pretty easy to find – just opposite the Public Bank of Melaka Raya along the main road of Jalan Merdeka. At the end of Jalan Merdeka are Hatten Hotel, Dataran Pahlawan & Mahkota Parade shopping complexes and Equatorial Hotel.

This last photo was taken during our stop over in Negeri Sembilan. We have never been there so I suggested to the family of stopping over since we're passing by from Melaka.
We decided to look for their local dish but most of the shops are closed because it was a Sunday. But we managed to find a small local RnR serving dishes like daging salai masak lemak cili api. It was not bad, could have been better if it was other days. At least we have options.

Overall, our weekend was well spent before Dianah left for India last week.
